Poems

1 The only poem that's ever made me cry. I can't explain why, exactly, but I was bored and translating it, and the gentleness and history of it hit me all at once. One of my favorites ever for that reason alone.

2 I like a lot of Thomas James' poetry, but this is the first poem of his I read, so it's what I'm linking! Highly reccomend his collection Letters to a Stranger - a lot of melancholy, beautiful poetry.

3 We sang a choral arrangement of this in middle school. I can't read it without hearing 30 or so children's voices singing it. Help.

4 Robert Burns poem!!! Like a lot of what he wrote, this one's also a song. Unlike the previous poem, it's one I still sing :) no specific recording I'd reccomend, but it's got a lovely melody too.

5 Two poems that (in my opinion) you have to read back to back. More 19th century poetry that makes me emotional.

Old Stories

1 I love this text. So much. It was what got me into medieval Irish literature, and later folklore. There's stories I like more, but this one has a lot of sentimental value for me.
